Health, Safety & NutritionWe house a full medical department which enables us to provide around the clock medical care to students. Our Physician’s Assistant conducts clinic visits with the students and oversees their general medical care while at the ranch.
Registered nurses with expertise in adolescent treatment handle the day-to-day medical needs of the students, including the overseeing of medication management. We work closely with other medical professionals in the community including psychologists and psychiatrists as needed.
First Aid & CPR TrainingFirst Aid & CPR training provides every staff member on the Diamond Ranch Academy team with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses.
All Diamond Ranch Academy staff complete The Positive Control Systems non-violent Crisis Intervention Program (PCS). This course provides expertise in de-escalating students during verbal or physical confrontations. Emphasis is on reliable safety measures without the use of excessive force.
Training on technical application and appropriate de-escalation responses provide protection for staff as well as safety to our students.
An
important part of a growing teen's physical and emotional health is
their diet. Under the direction of a registered dietician & nutritionist,
we serve meals that are healthy, filling, and reminiscent of home-cooked
meals.
DRA employs two experienced chefs that work daily to prepare 3 substantial meals, plus 2 fruit snacks between meals (pears, oranges, apples, bananas, watermelon, etc.)
Rolls,
biscuits, soups and casseroles are made from scratch.
Drinking
fountains, tap water, and sports water fountains are all
purified through our reverse osmosis system.

Special diets are also available for students with special needs, medical restrictions or religious requirements.
Note: As most of our students are enrolled for 10 months or more, we make an effort to change up the menu periodically to provide variety.

Diamond Ranch Academy utilizes one of the most advanced water treatment systems available to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.
All culinary water is treated with a large Reverse Osmosis system - similar to what many people have in their homes, but one of only a few of its size and capacity in the western United States.
As with city and county public water systems, Diamond Ranch employs a full-time Certified Water Operator. Our water operator is certified in the State of Utah at Level 2 in Water
Distribution, and Level 2 in Water Treatment.
Sampling and reports for water quality are taken on a daily and yearly basis. All records are available on-ranch, or through the State of Utah. State of Utah Public Water System #27088.
DRA exceeds all state requirements for water quality, and maintains a zero point record of any violations. In fact, our water is of better quality than most public water systems - and even the water found in most households.
Diamond ranch irrigates all of the fields, lawns, fruit orchards, gardens, trees, and flowers using water that flows from a natural spring that flows on the ranch. The water is captured and pressurized into the irrigation systems. Unused spring water also feeds our large fishing ponds stocked with Bass and Trout.

At Diamond Ranch Academy, our student's safety is our number one
priority. All dorm rooms, class rooms, and buildings are equipped
with fire alarm systems , fire extinguishers, and fire suppression
sprinklers. Fire drills are also held at regular intervals so our
students will feel comfortable knowing what to do
in case of an emergency.
