Fishing
The history of fishing goes back nearly as far as the fish. Fishing history dates back to when people of ancient times began fishing for food, when pieces of bone were used as hooks and lengths of vine as line. The oldest known painting of an angler using a rod or staff comes from Egypt and history dates it from about 2000 BC.
Diamond Ranch Academy does not use the fish for food or bones for hooks. We do allow the students to use a one barb hook and anything that they do catch we take a picture of it with them and release it back into the water.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to relax and enjoy Mother Nature. Some of our therapists find this to be a great therapeutic activity to help the students experience new things.
- "Just wanted to let you know that the past year with John has been the greatest! He's doing well at the community college and his job, and is looking to transfer to the University of Texas next fall.
Not once in the past year has he lashed out at us or given us cause for alarm. In fact, he reminds us to calm down & lower our voices when we "discuss" things, and he's been such a positive influence on his younger brothers. He is a different person than the angry, secretive teen we sent to you.. His time with you set him back on the right path to a good future, and we will be eternally grateful to you for that gift." - Ann

- "The workshop gave us the understanding that the staff gets it! The level of confidence we have is even higher than it already was. The lines of communication have opened in greater ways simply because I gained a better level of understanding of how the Ranch operates. I would absolutely recommend it to other parents." - parent
